FAQ

Why does my fridge need servicing?

Vehicle refrigeration systems are subjected to vibration/movement whenever the vehicle is driven, regular inspections can help prevent costly repairs if a fault is left undetected. Most small to medium size vehicle refrigeration units are designed to run using the vehicle's own engine to drive the compressor, either by an extended drive belt, or a separate belt attached to the crankshaft pulley. In either case, the belt(s) need to be inspected regularly. In addition, the vehicles flexible pipework is subject to vibration/movement, and should be regularly inspected for security to prevent chafing, etc. Filter driers in the refrigeration circuit may need to be changed (as you would change your oil filter/air filter/fuel filter when your car is serviced).

How often does my fridge need servicing?

Most manufacturers insist on regular servicing to validate any warranty you may have (usually three times per year).

My fridge runs and is making all the right noises, but it's not cooling?

The most common reason for this is low on gas, a nitrogen pressure test would be required to pinpoint the leak. This pressure test can only be carried out using specialist equipment.

The pressure in my fridge is low?

Before the system can be recharged, a leak test must be carried out. If there is a leak, it must be repaired before the system is recharged.

Why does my compressor stops and start intermittently?

This indicates low on gas and means the LOW pressure switch is doing its job and protecting the compressor by shutting it down until the pressure builds up enough again to trigger initialization. Once the compressor energizes, so the pressure begins to drop again and the LOW pressure switch shuts it down again. A continuous cycle of on and off until there is eventually not enough gas for the system to run at all.

Note: a build-up of high pressure could also cause this symptom.

This type of fault should be repaired as soon as possible.

Why does my controller display show PF1 or PF2?

This is a temperature probe sensor fault indicating faulty probe and/or wiring. There are two probes, one measures the air temperature, and one measures the gas temperature.

My controller display does not illuminate?

This indicates a power supply loss.
